Q4 2023 Recap: Top Navigation Apps in France on Android

As the year 2023 came to a close, Sensor Tower's data gives us a glimpse into the performance of the leading Navigation and Maps applications on Android devices in France for the fourth quarter. Our analysis provides insights into download numbers and weekly active users, with revenue being a non-factor for most of these apps as they did not generate any during this period.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic experienced a fluctuation in downloads, starting the quarter with approximately 39K downloads and peaking at around 42K by the year's end. The app's weekly active users saw a slight decline from 1.63M to 1.66M over the quarter.

Google Earth downloads also showed variability, beginning with about 17K and closing the quarter with an increase to 21K. However, the weekly active users dipped from 158K to 148K, indicating a slight decrease in user engagement.

Citymapper demonstrated a more stable trend in downloads, starting at 11K and ending at around 11K, with minor fluctuations throughout the quarter. The app's weekly active users, however, saw a significant drop from 240K to 180K. This app differed from others as it did generate some revenue, starting the quarter with $571 and ending with $619 in the last week.

Mappy observed a gradual decline in downloads, from 15K to 11K, while its weekly active users decreased from 62K to 53K. This indicates a consistent downward trend in both downloads and active users for the app.

Lastly, GPS, Maps, Voice Navigation, while having a mixed pattern in downloads, ended the quarter with a decrease from 9K to 6.8K. The weekly active users showed a decline from 34K to 27K. Unlike most others, this app did report revenue, starting with $268 and concluding with $288 in the final week of the quarter.
